After having successfully cleared the Preliminary and Main Examinations of the UPSC IAS Exams, the IAS interview is the last and final stage of the prestigious Civil Services Examinations. Also referred to as the 'Personality Assessment Round' – the questions are framed in a manner to test the candidates personality and temperament and speak volumes on it. After the successful completion of this round, candidates are selected for different positions in civil services positions. While it is noted that the Preliminary and Main examinations are held to test the academic and general awareness of the candidate, the interview round is solely held to assess the personality of the candidate.

Headed by a chairman, the IAS Interview panel consists of eminent personalities from different fields. While, there exists a fixed pattern for the Prelims and Main examinations, there is no fixed format for the last round and the panelists have the liberty to ask questions from technical, academic or simply non-academic sections. Candidates are required to show mental alertness, social etiquette and apply logics to express themselves clearly and exhibit different traits of their personality and impress the panel.

Candidates should keep in mind that this is no ordinary interview and candidates are competing against the best. Candidates should have a very focussed and clear approach while answering the questions. Aspirants should keep in mind that questions could even be generated from answers. We at safalta.com have enlisted a few sample questions that are often asked at the interview.
