Every year the number of students who enrol for Delhi Police Constable Exam has been multiplying. The competition is tough and the majority of applicants fail because they are not able to score well in the General Awareness Section. This section holds 50% weightage in the exam because of which it becomes important for an individual to score well in this section if they want to ace the Delhi Police paper.

In today’s blog I will share 3 basic steps following which you will be able to ace the General Awareness Section of the Delhi Police Constable Exam in 2020.

1. The very first thing to do is have a look at the syllabus for the General Awareness Section. Now, if you have seen the syllabus you will notice that it comprises topics like Constitution of India, History, Geography, Sciences, Politics, economics, current affairs and other similar topics. It is quite evident that the nature of topics for this section is very diverse. It means you cannot prepare for all these topics following a similar approach.

You will need to adapt topic wise approach if you want to do well in this section. I will explain you how:

Pick some previous year question papers and just go through the General Awareness section of those papers. Try to analyze and categorize questions based on topics. You will observe that almost every year you get 3 to 4 questions based on Indian constitution and politics, about 4 to 5 questions are related to Indian and world history, 5 to 6 about Geography of the country. However, the major portion of questions in this exam is based on current affairs (about 20 to 25).

Once done with the analysis, pick one topic at a time. Say, Current Affairs. All you need to know is the sports and other news from the last 5 to 6 months. No need to have a look at current affairs prior to that. It is advisable that you keep yourself updated with current affairs on a regular basis by reading newspapers, magazines, and weekly digests or even by watching news. But if in any case it's not possible you can just go through some YouTube videos on Current affairs of last few months or other reliable materials available, a few weeks before the exam. Also, make sure you go through some Environment study books and don’t forget to brush up on your sciences as well. You need not study in depth; having an overview of subjects would be sufficient. Then, talking about the Indian economy you should have a basic idea about what is GDP? Repo rate? Reverse Repo rate, etc.

Mostly candidates have a doubt about questions related to History like should they focus more on ancient history, medieval history or modern one. So, my suggestion here is that your prime focus should be on modern history although you may get one or two questions based on ancient or medieval history like about Delhi Sultanate, etc. No need to panic, the questions will be very easy.

For preparation of topics related to Indian Geography I would recommend you, focus more on maps, information related to states and International borders, tropic of cancer and all.

2. Attempt as many mock tests as possible so that you can analyze your growth. See where do you stand? Which are those topics under General Awareness in which you are weak? Focus on them more. Every single mark counts. So, do not leave any topic uncovered because you never know how many questions based on that topic might appear in the final exam.

3. Consistent Revision is the key to crack the General Awareness section of Delhi Police Exam. Revision of concepts at regular intervals helps you to retain those concepts at the time of the exam. While preparing for Delhi Police exam you have lots of information in your head so it becomes important to revise the main concepts from time to time. Frame your study schedule in such a way that before the exam you have time left for at least 2 -3 revisions. Make notes while studying so that you can revise things in a quick manner.

There are many ways to boost scores in this exam but I chose to share these three because they are the most effective ones.

To conclude, trust yourself and stay calm. You will make it through. For further guidance I would recommend you to join Delhi Police Exam preparation course on  www.safalta.com.
