Formula of discount
The marked price and the selling price serve as the foundation of the discount calculation. The following is the discount formula:
Discount = Marked price – Selling price
where,
M.P. (Marked Price) represents the item's real price, excluding any discounts. The selling price, or S.P., is what consumers pay for the item. A discount represents a portion of the asking price.
OR
Discount rate (DR) = p×r
Where p = principal amount
r = interest rate
Calculator of Discount
Take the original price of the item and multiply it by the decimal determined in step one. Example: Winter boots originally sold for $147. Multiply $147 by 0.25 to find the amount of the discount. $145 x 0.25 = $36.75, so the boots are discounted by $36.75.
