The IBPS PO exam is conducted by the Institute of Banking Personnel selection every year to recruit probationary officers for public sector banks as well as few public sector insurance companies. The result scores for IBPS PO exams will be released separately for prelims, mains, and interview round for the exam. So here is information about scores of every round of exam:-
Prelims Round
It is a qualifying round for the exam and used to shortlist candidates for the mains round. The scores of this round are not calculated for the final merit list.
Maximum Marks – 100
Marking scheme – 1 for the correct answer, 0.25 negative marking for the wrong answer
Mains exam round
It is the 2nd stage of the IBPS exam. It comprises of a descriptive paper and an objective paper. The candidate first needs to qualify the objective paper so that their descriptive paper is examined. To qualify this round the candidate needs to qualify all the papers of the mains exam and also needs to clear the cutoff of the overall mains exam. Then only the candidate will qualify for the interview round.80% weightage is provided to the mains exam in the merit list and the cut off list is based on vacancies and difficulty of the exam.
Maximum Marks – 225 (200 for Objective paper and 25 for Descriptive paper)
Interview round
The interview round is of 100 marks. The qualifying marks for the interview rounds are already defined for reserved category and unreserved category candidates.
Reserved category candidates need to score 40% while the unreserved category candidate needs to score 35% in the interview round.20% weightage is provided to this round in the final result.
Normalization of scores
The normalization of scores process take place in the IBPS PO exam so that unbiased decision is made for every candidate as exams take place in different states at different times and different shifts.
The question papers of various venues and shifts are also different and the difficulty level of the paper too, hence for the exam to be fair normalization of scores is required.
For normalizing scores that candidates get in each stage of the exam an equi-percentile method is used.
