This year marks the 20th anniversary of National Day of Service and Remembrance, also known as 9/11 Day. In honour of those murdered and injured on September 11, 2001, the day provides an opportunity to aid others.

11. 11 September -  National Forest Martyrs Day

Because the date of September 11th has historical importance, it was chosen as National Forest Martyrs Day. On this day in 1730, over 360 members of the Bishnoi tribe led by Amrita Devi protested the destruction of trees. They were slain on the orders of the monarch at Khejarli, Rajasthan, for their protest to save the trees.

12. 11 September - World First Aid Day

It is observed on the second Saturday of September, which falls on September 11 this year. The day raises public awareness about how first aid can save lives in times of need. According to the International Federation, first aid should be available to everyone and play a vital role in developing communities.

13. 12 September - Grandparents' Day

14. 14 September - Hindi Diwas

Hindi Diwas is observed on September 14th since it was on this date in 1949 that the Constituent Assembly of India adopted Hindi written in Devanagri script as the official language of the Republic of India.

Engineer's Day is observed in India on September 15th each year to honour the Indian Engineer Bharat Ratna Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya.
