Chief of Army Staff is the highest-ranking officer and Principal Advisor to the Minister Of Defence. He serves directly under the Supreme Commander of Defence Forces i.e- President Of India. The post of Indian Army Chief was known as the Commander-in-Chief, Indian Army from 1947- 1948.
