List of Miss World Winners From India: There are many beauty peagants conducted around the world but the Miss World Peagant is the oldest running international beauty pageant. It was created in 1951 by Eric Morley. The motto of the peagant is 'Beauty with a Purpose'. Ever since its inception, there have been many smart and wise women who have won this peagant. India has also been participating in this peagant and has won several times. Reita Faria was the first Miss World Winner from India in the year 1966. Complete List of Miss World Winners from India

1- Reita Faria (1966)

Reita Faria, who was born in Mumbai in 1943, was the first Indian woman to win the Miss World beauty contest in 1966. During the competition, Reita was also named Best in Swimsuit and Best in Eveningwear for her dazzling performance in a saree. She opted to concentrate on her medical education over films and modelling. She and her husband, David Powell, live in Dublin.

2- Aishwarya Rai (1994)

Aishwarya started her modelling career in college and has since starred in various television ads. Following that, she competed in the Miss India pageant and finished as the first runner-up, after which she represented India at the Miss World 1994 pageant, where she won the title. Mani Ratnam's Iruvar was her debut film. She is married to Abhishek Bachchan, a Bollywood actor.

3- Diana Hayden (1997)

Diana Hayden of Hyderabad was elected Miss World in 1997 and participated in various television ads following her victory. She comes from an Anglo-Indian background and formerly worked as an event planner. She made her Bollywood debut in the 2003 film Tehzeeb and went on to star in Ab... Bas! and Othello: A South African Tale.

4- Yukta Mookhey (1999)

Yukta Mookhey, who was born in Bangalore, won the Miss World pageant in 1999. She holds a diploma in computer sciences and studied zoology as well as Hindustani classical music. She's also appeared in Bollywood films.

5- Priyanka Chopra (2000)

In 2000, India won the competition for the second time when Priyanka Chopra was named Miss World. Priyanka Chopra, an acknowledged worldwide celebrity, has not only acted in classic Bollywood films, but she also made her Hollywood debut in 2017 with Baywatch and in the American television series Quantico. One of India's highest-paid celebrities. She has earned various honours, including the Padma Shri (2016), the National Film Award, and the Filmfare Awards. In 2010 and 2016, she was named the national and global UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for Child Rights. She is married to Nick Jonas, an American singer.
 

6- Manushi Chhillar (2017)

Manushi Chhillar of Haryana was named Miss World in 2017 after winning Miss India 2017 competition, seventeen years after Priyanka Chopra. She is a trained Kuchipudi dancer who studied under famed dancers Raja and Radha Reddy, as well as Kaushalya Reddy. Manushi starred in television ads following her victory and will make her Bollywood debut with Prithviraj in 2020 alongside Akshay Kumar.

Karolina Bielawska of Poland was named Miss World in 2022 , the next successor of the event.

Miss World is the oldest continuously operating international beauty pageant, founded in July 1951 in London, the United Kingdom by Eric Morley. Julia Morley, his widow, now co-chairs the beauty contest. Through 'Beauty With A Purpose,' Miss World promotes humanitarian problems. Kiki Hkansson of Sweden was the first Miss World winner, crowned in 1951, while Reita Faria of India was the first Indian to win the coveted title in 1966.

The Miss World concept is Beauty With A Purpose. This implies that the Miss World organization seeks not just a beautiful face but also someone who can advocate for humanitarian concerns. As a result, worldliness and activity are the most important qualities for Miss World.

India has taken home six Miss World crowns. In 1966, the first pageant was won. In 1994, India won for the second title after a 28-year hiatus. After three years, India won the championship for the third time in 1997. India won the championship for the fourth time in 1999. In 2000, the fifth crown was obtained. After 17 years, the sixth title was obtained in 2017.

Difference Between Miss World and Miss Universe

  • The fact that Miss World and Miss Universe are run by two different organisations is the main distinction between the two beauty pageants. They do not conflict with one another because they are hosted at various periods throughout the year.
  • Although the participants from all over the world are judged on their attractiveness in both pageants. Both selection processes use different criteria.
  • In the Indian context, Miss Diva is a different pageant that sends its winners to Miss Universe Pageant whereas Femina Miss India sends its winners to Miss World Pageant.
  • Eric Morley founded the Miss World International Beauty Pageant in 1951, which is held in the UK. Of the four international beauty pageants, it is the oldest; Miss World debuted in 1952. It is a US-based nonprofit that uses Beauty with a Purpose to promote humanitarian causes.
  • Miss World Limited manages Miss World, while Miss Universe Organization manages Miss Universe.
