Important Question from chapter 2 :Migration
Important Question from chapter 2 :Migration
Q-What is the impact of rural-urban migration on the age and sex structure on the place of origin and destination?
A- Migration causes the population of a nation to be redistributed. One of the key elements influencing the population expansion of cities is rural-urban migration. The demographic structure of rural areas is negatively impacted by age- and skill-specific outmigration. A substantial age-sex compositional imbalance is caused by high outmigration. Males of working age migrate out of rural areas, leaving behind women, children, and senior citizens, increasing the proportion of dependents in rural communities. As a result of having to manage both family and economic responsibilities in the villages, women are more likely to participate in agriculture while maintaining the same level of household workload.Additionally, it results in the loss of human capital from rural areas, leaving them with unskilled workers. This lowers overall productivity and impedes the growth of rural areas. The high sex ratio that exists in urban areas due to the high rate of migration of working-age males fuels crimes against women and increases their vulnerability.
