SSC CGL Eligibility 2024

SSC CGL eligibility is defined as per the following categories:

SSC CGL Eligibility: Nationality

A candidate must be
  • A Citizen Of India (or)
  • A Citizen Of Nepal (or)
  • A Citizen Of  Bhutan (or)
  • A Tibetan refugee who came to India, before the 1st January 1962 to permanently settle in India.
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam to settle in India permanently.

SSC CGL Eligibility: Age Limit

Candidates must be between 18 to 32 years of age to be eligible to apply for the SSC CGL Exam. The post-wise details of the age limit are as follows:

SSC CGL Birth Date 


Candidates can now ensure they meet the eligibility as per the age limit by checking their Birth date as per the Birth Certificate. The required birth date as per the SSC CGL Eligibility is as follows:

Candidate must have been born not earlier than 02-01-1995 and not later than 01-01-2004. 

For the posts for which the age limit is 20-30 year

Candidate must have been born not earlier than 02-01-1992 and not later than 01-01-2002.

For the posts for which the age limit is 18-30, the candidates

e must be born not earlier than 02-01-1992 and not later than 01-01-2004.

For the post for which the age limit is 18-32, the candidate

e must have been born not earlier than 02-01-1990 and not later than 01-01-2004.

 

SSC CGL Age Limit Relaxation


There is age relaxation provided to candidates appearing for the  SSC CGL Exam. The details of the age relaxation are as follows:

SSC CGL Eligibility: Educational Qualification

 
The educational qualifications for different posts are as follows:

Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) 

Bachelor’s Degree in any subject from a recognized University or Institute with at least 60% Marks in Mathematics at 12th standard level (or)

 Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects at degree level.

Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer (AAO)

Desirable Qualification: Chartered Accountant or Cost & Management Accountant Company Secretary or Master in Commerce or Masters in Business Studies or Masters in Business Administration (Finance) or Masters in Business Economics.

Essential Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in any subject from a recognized university

 Investigator Grade-II Bachelor’s

 Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects from a recognized University or Institute. The candidates must have studied Statistics as a subject in all three years of the graduation course. 

Assistant in National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT)  Essential Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or Institute

Desirable Qualifications: Degree in law from a recognized university.
Research Assistant in National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Essential Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or Institute

Desirable Qualifications: Minimum one-year research experience in any recognized university (or) recognized Research Institution
Degree in Law or Human Rights from a recognized university.
 

Other Post

Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized University or equivalent

  

SSC CGL Eligibility: Physical Fitness Standards

There are different physical standards for different posts. The details are as follows:

Inspector (Central Excise/ Examiner/ Preventive Officer), Inspector & Sub-Inspector in CBN:  

For Male Candidates
  • (i) Physical Standards:

Height 157.5 cm. 

Chest 81 cm (fully expanded with a minimum expansion of 5 cm.)

Height relaxable by 5 cm in the case of Garwalis, Assamese, Gorkhas, and members of Scheduled Tribes.

 

  • (ii) Physical Test:
Physical Test For Male Candidates For Female Candidates
Walking 1600 metres in 15 minutes 1 km in 20 min
Cycling 8 Km in 30 minutes 3 km in 25 min

Persons with disabilities applying for the position of Inspector (Central Excise/ Examiner/ Preventive Officer) must meet the physical requirements, including height, chest size, and weight, as specified for the position.

However, the following physical test accommodations are permitted for candidates with orthopedic disabilities:
  • For the OL and OAL categories, the "Walking" exam shall be required.
  • In the case of the OA, OL, and OAL categories, the "Cycling" test shall not be required.


For Female Candidates
  • (i) Physical standards (Minimum requirement)

Height:  152 cm.

Weight:  48 Kgs.

Height relaxable by 2.5 cms. 

Weight relaxable by 2 Kg. for Gorkhas, Garwalis, Assamese, and members of Scheduled Tribes.

  • (ii)Physical Test:
    • Walking -  1 Km. in 20 minutes.
    • Cycling - 3 Kms. km25 minutes.
 

Physical standards for the Post of Sub-Inspector in the National Investigation Agency:

Male 165 cm A minimum of 76 cm With expansion
  • Eye-sight (with or without glasses)
  • Distant vision: 6/6 in one and 6/9 in the other eye.
  • Near vision 0.6 in one eye and 0.8 in the other eye

Physical standards for the Post of Sub-Inspector in the Central Bureau of Investigation: 

Sex Height Chest Vision 
Male The height must not be less than 165 cm for General category candidates.
Height can be relaxed for hill and tribal candidates by up to 5 cm
A minimum of 76 cm With expansion.
  • Eye-sight (with or without glasses)
  • Distant vision: 6/6 in one and 6/9 in the other eye.
  • Near vision 0.6 in one eye and 0.8 in the other eye
Female 150 cms. Same

SSC CGL Eligibility: Documents Required For Verification

The applicants who appear, are shortlisted, and requested to appear for the Document Verification must present all of the credentials demonstrating their qualifications for the positions.
 
  • Matriculation/ Secondary Certificate
  • Educational Qualification Certificate
  • Caste/ Category Certificate (if belong to reserved categories)
  • Persons with Disabilities Certificate(if applicable).
  • For Ex-Servicemen (ESM)
    • Serving Defense Personnel Certificate (if applicable)
    • Proof of undertaking
    • Discharge Certificate (in the case of discharge from the Armed Forces)
  • Relevant Certificate for the age relaxation
  • Certificate for Civilian Employees by the Central Government
  • No Objection Certificate (if already employed in Government/ Government undertakings)
  • Any other document specified in the Admission Certificate issued for SSC CGL Document Verification.

SSC CGL Eligibility: Number of AttemptsThere is no restriction on the number of attempts for the SSC CGL Exam. Candidates can appear for the exam as many times as they want provided they satisfy the eligibility criteria mentioned above.
