SSC GD 2021 : All About Physical Efficiency Test (PET) & Physical Standard Test (PST)

Staff Selection Commission General Duty (SSC GD) , is a national-level exam conducted by the Staff Selection Commission for recruiting candidates for the posts of Constable (General Duty) and Rifleman (General Duty) . The forces in which they ( constables ) shall be recruited for general duty are as follows:

• Border Security Force (BSF)
• Central Industrial Security Force (CISF)
• Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF)
• Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP)
• Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB)
• National Investigation Agency (NIA)
• Secretariat Security Force (SSF)

And recruitment for rifleman ( general duty ) will be for Assam Rifles.

After Phase -I which will consist of Computer Based Test the Phase-II of the exam will comprise of Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST).Based on the performance in CBE the candidates will be further shortlisted for PET/ PST . Physical Efficiency Test . In order to ensure that a candidate passes through this stage he / she must take proper care of his / her health and fitness and engage in regular physical exercise .This phase will comprise of :

Race (for all candidates except belonging to Ladakh Region)

Male : 5 Kms race in 24 minutes

Female : 1.6 Kms race in 8 and a half minutes

Race (Only for candidates of Ladakh Region)

Male : 1 Mile in 6 and a half minutes

Female : 800 metres in 4 minutes

Height :

General, SC & OBC candidates (other than those mentioned below ) -Male -170;Female- 157

The minimum height for all candidates belonging to Scheduled Tribes- Male-162.5 ; Female-150

The minimum height for all Schedule Tribe candidates hailing from the North-Eastern States of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim & Tripura and Naxal/ Left Wing Extremism affected Districts-Male-160 ; Female -147.5

The Minimum height for the candidates falling in the categories of Garhwalis, Kumaonis, Dogras,

Marathas and candidates belonging to the States of Assam, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir- Male -165 ; Female-155

The minimum height for the candidates hailing from North Eastern States of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura---Male- 162.5 ; Female152.5

Weight :

The weight of candidates should be Proportionate to height and age as per medical standards. The final decision in weight will be decided by the medical board.

Imp Things to Note :

Those candidates who are found eligible on height parameters during PET/PST will then undergo PET (race) followed by biometric/ technology aided identification.

After a candidate qualifies for PET (race) before PST he/she shall be scrutinized so as to be eligible for any relaxation i.e. age, height and chest measurement .

Phase-III: Detailed Medical Examination (DME)

All those candidates who will be shortlisted for Detailed Medical Examination (DME) from the bunch of candidates who took part in PET/ PST. The purpose of medical examination is to ensure that a candidate is medically fit candidates for being recruited into the CAPFs.

The selected candidates will be medically examined by the Medical Boards constituted by the CAPFs to assess their physical and medical fitness .The test shall comprise of :

1. Eye Sight Test
2.Medical Test (X-Ray) chest-PA view, Haemoglobin, Urine routine/ microscopic examination whicb is a must for all candidates undergoing medical examination.
3.Examination of blood pressure- Normal Range Systolic -100-140 mm of Hg, Diastolic- 60 to 90 mm of Hg).
4. Haemoglobin: (Normal Range-12-16 g/dL (male) & 10-14 g/dL (for female). Candidates with more than 18 g/dL will be considered unfit. Haemoglobin below 12 g/dL for male and below 10 g/dL for female will be disqualified.
5. Tattoo:The tattoos with following conditions will be exempted from disqualification :

1.Content: Tattoo depicting religious symbol or figures names , as followed in Indian Army are to be permitted.

b) Location: Tattoos based on traditional sites of the body like inner aspect of forearm, but only left forearm, which being the non saluting limb or dorsum of the hands are to be allowed.

c) Size: The size of the tattoo must be less than 1/4 of the particular part (Elbow or Hand) of the body.

6. The candidates should not have knock knee, flat foot, varicose vein or squint in eyes.

So it is clear from the abovementioned criterias that only studying shall not fetch a candidate seat for SSC GD . One should also keep themselves physically fit to pass the exam .
