SSC JE Eligibility Criteria: The Staff Selection Commission conducts the SSC JE Exam to recruit candidates for the post of Junior Engineer. SSC JE Eligibility Criteria 2022

SSC specifies the eligibility criteria for the SSC JE Exam in the official notification that it releases for recruitment. Candidates who apply for the SSC JE Exam should meet these eligibility criteria. If the candidates do not satisfy the eligibility criteria as mentioned in the official notification, their application will be rejected. SSC JE Eligibility: Nationality

As for Nationality, the eligibility for candidates is as mentioned below. To be eligible to appear for the exam, candidates must satisfy these nationality criteria and must be:
  • A citizen of India, or
  • A subject of Bhutan, or
  • A subject of Nepal, or
  • A Tibetan refugee who migrated to India before 1st January 1962, to reside in India permanently, or
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Burma, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Uganda, Kenya, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Malawi, Ethiopia, Zaire, Zambia, and Vietnam to settle in India permanently.

SSC JE Eligibility: Age Limit

There are various posts in the SSC JE Exam that the candidates can apply for and the age limit for each of these posts is different. However, candidates must be above 18 years of age and not more than 32 years of age to be eligible to appear for the SSC JE Exam.

SSC JE Eligibility: Age Relaxation

Along with the above age limits, SSC offers age relaxations to candidates belonging to certain categories which are as follows:
 Category Age-Relaxation Permissible beyond the Upper age limit
C/ST 5 years
OBC 3 years
PH 10 years
H (OBC) 13 years
H (SC/ST) 15 years
Ex-Servicemen (ESM) 03 years after deduction of the military service rendered from the actual age as on the closing date on receipt of online application. 
Central Govt. Civilian Employees (General/Unreserved) who have rendered not less than 3 years of regular and continuous service as of Closing date o 5 Years of age
Central Govt. Civilian Employees (OBC) who have rendered not less than 3 years of regular and continuous service as of the Closing date. Upto 8 (5+3) years of age
Central Govt. Civilian Employees ( SC/ST ) who have rendered not less than 3 years of regular and continuous service as of the Closing date o 10 ( 5+5) years of age.
Candidates who had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from 01- 01-1980 to 31-12-1989 (Unreserved/General ) 5 years
Candidates who had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from 01- 01-1980 to 31-12-1989 ( OBC ) 8 years
Candidates who had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from 01- 01-1980 to 31-12-1989 (SC/ST) 5 years defense
e Personnel disabled in operation during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence thereof. 3 years
Defence Personnel disabled in operation during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence thereof ( SC/ST ) 8 years

SSC JE Eligibility Criteria: Educational Qualifications

SSC lays down certain essential educational qualifications that are required for candidates to be eligible for different posts under the SSC JE Exam. The education qualification is the most essential criterion that must be satisfied in the SSC JE Eligibility. Every candidate should have necessarily passed the Matriculation or Secondary Examination from a recognized board. The post-wise specific educational qualifications required for candidates to be eligible to appear for the SSC JE Exam are as follows:

(b) 2 years of work experience in Planning/ Execution/ Maintenance of Civil Engineering works

Junior Engineer (Civil) Border Roads Organization, Ministry of Defence Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized University/ Institute or

 

(a) 3 years Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized University/ Institute/ Board; and

(b) 2 years of work experience in Planning/ Execution/ Maintenance of Civil Engineering works

Junior Engineer (Civil) Central Water Power Research Station Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized University/ Institute/ Board
Junior Engineer (Civil) National Technical Research Organization Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized University/ Board/ Institution
