UP Govt Has Decided to Cancel College Exams in the Wake of Second Wave of Covid-19 Pandemic

Uttar Pradesh State Government has decided to  cancel the   exams of the UP Colleges due to alarming rise in the number of  COVID-19 cases across the country

According to a recent notification , the Uttar Pradesh State Government has decided to  cancel the   exams of the UP Colleges due to alarming rise in the number of  COVID-19 cases across the country.Accordingly around 30 lakh students will  be promoted to their next year/semester  without  examination, as the country is hit hard by the  second wave COVID-19 virus  .


Although the government confirmed that  the examinations for final year students of  both undergraduate  and postgraduate courses will be held  as per the earlier  schedule. The ones to be promoted will be  students of first and second-year enrolled  in the  UG and PG programs of the state .

The decision of  promoting first and second year PG and UG students of the universities in the state was taken after     recommendations and suggestions submitted by all  the stakeholders of the state A committee  comprising of 3 Vice Chancellors has already  prepared the roadmap for the promotion of first and second year students in the universities and colleges of the state .Among the many members of the committee Vice-Chancellor of Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University, Kanpur, Professor Vinay Pathak, Vice-Chancellor of Lucknow University, and Professor Alok Kumar Rai, Vice-Chancellor of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Ruhelkhand University, Bareilly, Prof. Krishnapal Singh were part.


The committee has already  prepared the marking scheme after drafting a system along with stakeholders and suggestions from other universities .According to the report the first year students should be marked on the basis of merit whereas  marks to second year students should be awarded on the basis of their performance in the first year exam . Though for now the marking scheme is  open to discussion and the controller of exams and vice-chancellors of different universities are expected to hold a detailed discussion with an expert committee and arrive at a more feasible ,  flexible model if required
