SBI PO stands for State Bank of India Probationary Officer. This examination is conducted every year for recruiting Probationary Officers in SBI all over the country. The Recruitment process consists of 3 stages namely Preliminary Examination, Mains Examination and Personal Interview.

Educational Qualification :
  • Graduation in any discipline from a recognised University or any equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government.
  • Those who are in the Final Year/ Semester of their Graduation can also apply provisionally subject to thecondition that, if called for interview, they will have to produce proof of having passed the graduation examination.
  • Candidates who have passed Chartered Accountant may also apply
  • Candidates holding an Integrated Dual Degree (IDD) certificate need to ensure that the date of passing of the IDD is as mentioned in the notification.
  • Candidates with less than 60% in their graduation can also apply for SBI PO exam. The State Bank of India states no minimum percentage in Graduation for the post SBI Probationary Officer (PO) .

Note : Candidate should calculate the percentage obtained in Graduation and calculate it to the nearest two decimals in the application form. In cases where CGPA is awarded,the candidate will have to convert the grade into percentage and state it in the application form.

Certain candidates with the following criterias will have their candidature cancelled and are hence not eligible to apply :
  • Candidates having a record of default in repayment of loans , or those who have an adverse report from CIBIL, or have pending credit card dues are not eligible for appointment.
  • Candidates having adverse reports regarding immoral behaviour , inappropriate character and antecedents are not eligible to apply for this post.

Candidates who are Hearing Impaired, Visually Impaired and Orthopedically Handicapped are eligible to apply for the examination .
 The eligibility for PwD candidates are as follows:
  • OH – Orthopedically Handicapped: Those candidates with a locomotor disability or cerebral palsy with a minimum of 40% impairment fall are eligible.

OL – Those whose One leg is affected either left or right.
OA – Those whose One arm is affected either left or right
BL- Those whose both legs are affected but not arms
OAL- Those whose One arm & One Leg is affected.
  • VI – Visually Impaired: Any candidate suffering from any of the following conditions will fall under the reserved category.
A total absence of sight Visual acuity not exceeding 6/60 or 20/200 (Snellen). Limitation of the field of vision subtending an angle of 20 degrees

HI – Hearing Impaired: Hearing impairment with a loss of 60 decibels or more can apply for the exam. Or
A person whose sense of hearing is non-functional for ordinary reasons of life. Someone who has lost the hearing ability of both ears, OR who can’t hear sounds at all even with amplified speech.
  • People with Dwarfism" which means a medical or genetic condition resulting in an adult height of 4 feet 10 inches (147 centimeters) or less.
  • Candidates who have been victims of Acid attack.

A person who wants to avail the benefit of reservation will have to submit a disability certificate issued by a Competent Authority as per Government of India guidelines which will be subject to verification/ re-verification .

Age Limit:

The minimum age limit for a candidate to apply is 21 years and the candidate should not be more than 30 years at the time of registration.

The relaxations in age are as follows :

Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) -5 years
Other Backward Classes (OBC Non-Creamy Layer) -3 years
Persons with Disabilities (PWD) -10 years
Ex-Servicemen (Army personnel)- 5 years
Persons with Domicile of Jammu &Kashmir during 1-1-1980 to 31-12-1989- 5 years

Nationality :
  • The candidate must hold an Indian Citizenship
  • He / She can be a Subject of Nepal or Bhutan.
  • A Tibetan Refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanent settlement.
  • A Person of Indian Origin (PIO) who has migrated from Burma, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Vietnam or East African countries of Zaire, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Ethiopia, Malawi, with the intention of permanent settlement in India.

Please Note: Candidates belonging to the category 2, 3, and 4 must have a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India in their favour.
