What Is NDA exam ?
NDA is one of the most sought-after entrance examination in the country for joining the defence sector . The exam is conducted twice every year by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for admission to Army, Navy and Air Force wings of NDA and Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC). NDA examination consists of two stages: written exam and SSB Interview.

Educational Qualification :
Army wing - NDA:Candidate must have passed Class 12th or its equivalent examination from a recognized board
The Air Force & Naval wings of NDA and 10+2 Cadet entry scheme at INA: Candidates must have passed Class 12 or equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics.
Marital Status :
Only unmarried applicants can allow and they should not marry until they complete their training . Candidates who marry during their training will be discharged and will have to refund all the expenditure spend on him by the government.
Candidates who fill the NDA registration form first need to appear in the written exam. After that Candidates who qualify the written exam need to appear for SSB Interview for Intelligence and Personality Test.
The distribution of subjects and marks Is as follows :
Mathematics- 300marks (120 questions ) - 2 1⁄2 hours
General Ability Test (GAT)- GAT is divided into two parts -Part A – English Test Part B – General Awareness or General Knowledge Test
600 marks (150 questions ) -2 1⁄2 hours
Please note : For mathematics 2.5 is awarded for correct answer and 0.83 deducted for wrong answer
For GAT - 4 marks for correct answer and 1.33 for wrong answer
In the SSB Interview the candidates are assessed for various Officer Like Qualities at the Service Selection Boards. The qualities include planning & organising ability, social adaptability, social effectiveness and dynamic ability. The SSB Interview will comprise of :
1st Stage - Screening Test that consists of Verbal and Non-Verbal Tests , Intelligence Test, Picture Perception and Discussion test.
2nd Stage : Psychological Test which consist of Thematic Apperception Test (TAT), Word Association Test (WAT), Situation Reaction Test (SRT) and Self Description Test (SD).
Group Testing Officers Test comprises of GD, GPE, PGT, HGT, IOT, Command Task, Snake race/Group Obstacle Race, Individual lecture.
The final phase of stage 2 is Personal Interview & Conference round (It comprises interaction with all board members including GTO, psychologist, board president and others)
Successful candidates are thereafter required to undergo medical examination (Approx duration 03 to 05 days).
After all these steps and criterias are met a merit list, is prepared for those who qualify all these stages.Then the candidate who got selected will receive the joining letter and head towards the academy.
