The Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) holds the International general knowledge Olympiad (IGKO) every year. Students from Classes 1 to 10 are welcome to participate in the IGKO exam. The exam is a good place to enhance one’s current level and knowledge. Candidates who are aiming to appear in the IGKO exam must know the syllabus. It will help prepare a study schedule and get ready for the exam.

The aim of the International general knowledge Olympiad (IGKO) is to assist students in evaluating their commands on general awareness. For this reason, the IGKO question paper revolves around current events. Subjects included in the exam are Geography, History, Mathematics, and Science. The exam is categorized into 4 sections-
  • General Awareness
  • Current Affairs
  • Life Skills
  • Achievers section
The syllabus for each section is different for classes 1 to 4 and for classes 5 to 10.

The syllabus has 4 sections in total-
  • 1st Section: General Awareness – Topics related to crucial events around the world.
  • 2nd Section: Current Affairs – It includes questions from recent events.
  • 3rd Section: Life Skills – Topics related to managerial abilities and abilities to live life happily.
  • 4th Section: Achievers Section – This section contains questions related to higher-order thinking (HOTs) skills.

The Marking Scheme of IGKO

Classes 1 to 4 have a different marking pattern from that of Classes 5 to 10. The marking pattern of IGKO exam is explained below with the help of a table given below.

What is IGKO?

IGKO is an international general knowledge olympiad. The Olympiad is open for Classes 1st-10th, where they can compete in an international-level exam. The syllabus coverage is mostly based on the pattern of CBSE, ICSE, and other state boards. The Olympiad is an excellent area for those who are interested in fields like skills, awareness, and current affairs.

How can I prepare for IGKO exam?

Make a schedule to prepare yourself for the International General Knowledge Olympiad (IGKO). Allot time to the required subjects based on the NSO Syllabus. Try to practice as many example papers as possible during this period. Make every day count by honing your talents and expanding your knowledge base. The exam dates are tentative. These are unlikely to alter significantly. Therefore, prepare accordingly.

Who can participate in the IGKO exam?

Candidates studying in Classes 1 to 10 can participate in the IGKO exam. 

Can a candidate apply for other SOF Olympiads in addition to IGKO 2022?

The different Olympiad registration is open after applying for IGKO.
