NSO Exam Pattern 2022-2023 is available here at Safalta. The term NSO stands for National Science Olympiad. The exam is conducted by Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF). It is a National level Olympiad exam, which aims at encouraging scholars and developing scientific skills in them., SOF is responsible for conducting NSO every year. The test is open for all students from class 1st to 12th. Students are required to go through the NSO exam pattern 2022-2023 and the syllabus before appearing in the exam. The syllabus remains unchanged from last year. The syllabus of NSO is based on CBSE, ICSE, and state board exams. The NSO is a science competition conducted for Students in Classes 1 to 12. The Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) is the conducting body of this Olympiad exam. It aims to develop the talent of the students in various fields, such as scientific skills, technical skills, and IT proficiencies at the secondary level. The ranking of the exams is based on marks scored by students in both levels of NSO. The evaluation process is done at four levels; school, local, state, and international levels.

NSO Eligbility Criteria 2022-2023 Level 1 Exam

There are no eligibility requirements for Level 1. NSO Level 1 exam is open to students studying in Classes 1-12. Furthermore, there are no specific academic marks for taking part in this Olympiad. Anyone who is a student of CBSE/ICSE or state board school can be an applicant to the National Science Olympiad.
 

NSO Eligbility Criteria 2022-2023 Level 2 Exam

Students who qualify and clear the cut-off of the NSO level 1 exam can move on to the second level. The basic criteria for level 2 are as follows-
  • The top 5% of students from each class who participated in the Level 1 exam can go for Level 2.
  • The top 25 rank holders in each zone who participated in the Level 1 test fulfill the criteria for the second level exam.
  • Students from each participating school where at least 10 students participated in the exam and scored half of the qualifying grades can appear in the NSO Level 2 exam.
  • Students with the highest marks in each section can appear in the NSO Level 2 exam if registration is received section-wise. However, it is not sure that students who are awarded gold medals are eligible for the second Level NSO exam.
Students in Classes 1 and 2 are not eligible to take part in the NSO Level 2 exams. Their performance is evaluated on the basis of Level 1 exam results.
 
Students must get familiar with the exam pattern before giving the National Science Olympiad (NSO) exam. The examination pattern is decided by the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF). The exam format of the NSO involves the question paper pattern, the marking scheme of the numerous segments, the number of queries per segment, etc. Students can develop a foolproof strategy to clear this Olympiad exam with good grades

NSO Application 2022-2023

Students can get the NSO registration form from their respective schools. However, their schools must be registered institutions under the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF). If your school is not registered under SOF, it can contact the organization through email or phone call to get the prospectus. 

Schools must submit the applicant's registration form a month before the last date of the exam registration. SOF generates the roll number for the applicants, which are then given to the respective schools and finally to the candidates. Students competing in this test are assigned the roll numbers by the school's coordinating teacher.
 

NSO Results 2023

The declaration of the results is mainly done within 2 months after the NSO exam. Most of the results include the rank at international, zonal, and school levels.  SOF awards students with cash prizes and scholarships according to the marks scored by them. However, students who do not qualify for the exam are also awarded a certificate of appreciation. 
 

Tips to Prepare for NSO:

  • The foremost step is to take a thorough reading of the syllabus. It will help manage your time, practice, and revise the course content.
  • Prepare notes in bullets and pointers. It will assist in taking a quick and easy revision.
  • After completing the syllabus, practice mocks in the exam atmosphere and within the time limit. This will help understand your strengths and weaknesses. You should also solve mock test papers to get familiarized with the types of questions.

How many levels are there in NSO?

Level 1 and Level 2 are the tiers for the NSO exam. Both Level 1 and Level 2 are for students in Classes 1-12. However, students of Class 1 can only participate till level 1. Only Students in classes 3-12 can move on to level 2. Candidates who qualify for level 1 can take part in Level 2 (Classes 3-12).

The National Science Olympiad (NSO) exam is open to all the students from classes 1-12. You just need to register yourself for the exam with your school.
