The Central Teaching Eligibility Test (CTET) has two tiers or papers. Candidates who want to teach grades 1 to 5 should take Paper I, whereas candidates who want to teach grades 6 to 8 should take Paper II.
Candidates who want to be certified to teach grades 1 through 8 can take both CTET papers. There are 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) in each of Papers I and II. According to the CTET official notification, the CTET 2021 will be held online from December 16, 2021 to January 13, 2022. Before applying for CTET 2022, candidates should look at the exam dates.

CTET Exam Pattern 2022 Highlights

According to the official announcement, the CTET exam consists of two papers for the Primary and Elementary Stages. For the first time, the CTET 2022 exam will be administered online, and the questions will be conceptual in nature. The following is the CTET exam pattern for both papers:

CTET Syllabus 2022

CTET Syllabus 2022 is defined by CBSE. There have been no changes in the syllabus over the years.

  • Paper 1 comprises 5 sections namely, Child Development and Pedagogy, Language 1, Language 2, Mathematics and Environmental Studies.
  • Paper 2 has four sections namely Child Development and Pedagogy, Language 1, Language 2, Mathematics &Science ORSocial Studies.
  • Paper 1 is for primary school teaching, therefore; the level of questions is related to class 1- 5.
  • Similarly, paper 2 is conducted for elementary school teaching, hence, questions areof class 6- 8 level.

Use of Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) Sheet

There are a certain set of instructions that must be followed while handling the (Optical Mark Recognition) OMR Sheet. Candidates must abide by the given instructions and follow the rules stated regarding OMR Sheet while attempting CTET 2022. Given below are a few facts and guidelines related to it:

  • Candidates will find OMR Sheet placed inside a sealed test booklet. The seal must be opened only after the announcement by the invigilator.
  • Code like A, B, C or D printed on OMR sheet will be the same as mentioned in the test booklet.
  • OMR Sheet will be scanned on an optical scanner. Candidates should ensure that OMR Sheet is not folded.
  • Do not write your Roll number anywhere except in a specified space in OMR sheet.
Side 1 of OMR sheet contains the following columns which are to be filled clearly and accurately with a ballpoint pen (blue/black). The use of a pencil is strictly prohibited.
  1. Roll Number
  2. Name of the candidate
  3. Father’s Name
  4. Centre Number
  5. Name of the Examination Centre
  6. Subject offered for Paper-II (Only in case of Paper-II)

Side 2 of OMR Sheet contains the following columns:

  1. Roll Number
  2. Main Test Booklet Number
  3. Language Supplement Booklet Number
  4. Language Supplement Booklet Code
  5. Subject offered for Paper-II (Only in case of Paper-II)
  6. Language in which you have attempted the questions
  7. Signature of the candidate

CTET 2022 Exam Day Instructions

Guidelines that have to be followed during CTET examination 2022 are listed below. Candidates must carefully go through them before sitting for CTET 2022:

  • The test will start exactly at the time mentioned on CTET 2022 Admit Card.
  • The candidate will be asked to open the seal of the Test Booklet five minutes before the commencement of the paper.
  • Check carefully that the Test Booklet Code printed on Side 2 of OMR Sheet is the same as printed on Test Booklet.
  • Immediately report the matter to the invigilator for replacement of both the Test Booklet and OMR Sheet in the case of any discrepancy.
  • During the examination, the invigilator will check the admit card to verify the identity of a candidate.
  • Candidates must use a ballpoint pen (Blue/Black) only. The use of pencil is strictly prohibited and will be rejected.
  • Candidates will mark the answers on the OMR sheet only after the announcement of the invigilator.

Ques: How many questions are asked in CTET Paper 1 and 2?

Ans: Both CTET Paper 1 and Paper 2 comprise of150 questions each. For every correct answer, 1 mark will be awarded to all the candidates and there is no negative marking for incorrect answers. 

Ques: How many sections are there in CTET 2022 papers?

Ans: CTET Syllabus 2022 is defined by CBSE. There have been no changes in the syllabus over the years. Ques: Is language 1 and 2 compulsory in CTET 2022?

Ans: Yes, both language papers are compulsory. The choice of language for language-I and -II should be different. Candidates can choose from a prescribed set of 20 languages as language-I and -II.

Ques: Can I appear for both paper 1 and 2 of CTET 2022?

Ans: Yes. Paper I is for candidates who wish to teach classes 1 to 5 and Paper II is for candidates who wish to teach classes 6 to 8. In case candidates wish to qualify to teach classes 1 – 8, they can appear for both the papers in CTET.
