CUET Syllabus: Section III General Test

Static General Knowledge is included in the General Awareness part, and current affairs questions test a candidate's familiarity with both domestic and global news. Here are the topics for the General Knowledge and Current Affairs sections of the CUET exam.
  1. General Knowledge
  2. Current Affairs
  3. General Mental Ability
  4. Numerical Ability
  5. Quantitative Reasoning (Simple application of basic mathematical concepts arithmetic/algebra geometry/mensuration/stat taught till Grade 8)
  6. Logical and Analytical Reasoning

Let's now discuss the revised general test syllabus for the CUET exam. The general test area's previous section division has been removed by NTA. The following sections will now be accessible to students: general knowledge, current affairs, general ability, numerical ability, quantitative reasoning, and logical and analytical reasoning. Although, as stated in the previous syllabus, students should still attempt 60 of the 75 questions.

Previously, it was specified that each part would contain 15 questions, of which 12 had to be answered. However, the modified pattern provides for students to receive a mix of 75 questions, which can come from any category, such as current affairs, numerical ability, and so forth. Now, you can choose any one of the 75 questions you want to answer.

Try to complete the test using the most recent pattern if you are doing sample papers or mock exams as part of your preparation. This will help you gain a better understanding of the examination. According to the modified pattern, students must now exercise greater caution and complete their preparation because no one can predict which subject would yield more questions.

What is the reason to conduct a common entrance test?

Conducting a Common Entrance test will lessen the burden of the students preparing for undergraduate admissions. As with the help of UGC CUET, they don’t have to apply and appear in different universities’ entrance exams. Moreover, multiple entrance exams can cause stress to the students. Hence, UGC CUET will help in reducing that stress and will help students to concentrate on their board exams.

Is the performance in class 12th is not relevant now?

The performance of the students in class 12th is as necessary as it was before. The students need to gain knowledge in school time. Apart from this, UGC has left the universities to decide the minimum criteria. So, it can be possible for universities to get 50-60% marks in board exams. However, for appearing in UGC CUET 2022 the student has to just pass the class 12th exam same as during the admission in IIT only JEE scores are required.

What will be the process of the universities to select candidates?

Firstly, some qualifying marks will be fixed by the universities. Then based on the UGC CUET scores they will make a merit list of the qualified candidates.

As announced by UGC the syllabus will be declared in April’s first week and the examination will be scheduled in July. Hence, the candidate will get enough time to check the difference between their syllabus and the NCERT syllabus. If there is any difference they can prepare for it. Moreover, from next year the students will be familiar with the syllabus.
