The first and foremost thing required to ace almost every exam including SSC CGL is a fair knowledge of the Syllabus & exam pattern. It'll help you to prepare effectively for this exam . You'll also get an idea of what are the areas that you're weak in and pay more attention to them .
The syllabus for Tier I is as follows –
General intelligence and reasoning: 50 marks
General awareness: 50 marks
Quantitative aptitude: 50 marks
English comprehension: 50 marks

You need to make a habit practising Previous Year Papers and Mock Tests every day to improve speed and accuracy. Questions from previous year papers are often repeated and Solve it'll also give you a gist of the examination pattern and the type of questions asked . You should be also careful in the selection of study materials required for the examination .
Read the newspaper daily and practice vocabulary and comprehension
Develop a habit of reading the newspaper daily . It'll help you to get a hold on current affairs . Awareness plays a key role if you want to ace the General Awareness Section .Reading is key as it'll also help you solve the General English Section with ease . Read as many comprehensive passages and relevant pieces of literature that you can to improve your English and Vocabulary and develop a faster reading habit . Make notes , Avoid rote learning .Instead of rote learning , aspirant should keep notes and prepare mind maps to remember facts and topic and to simultaneously revise them. Keep a notebook along while you're reading the newspaper or studying so as to jot down important points for all the four sections.Mugging up things may confuse you and at times create blunders plus it's not an effective strategy to pick on if you're someone who want to
