National Recruitment Agency (NRA) got the nod from the union cabinet on 19th August 2020 to conduct Common Eligibility Test (CET) for all non-gazetted central government jobs. It is a big relief for Indian job seekers, they don’t need to apply separately for different exams.
What is NRA: National Recruitment Agency is a newly formed body that will conduct single one day exam to screen/filter candidates for the Group B and C post. Earlier this was done separately by the Service Selection Commission (SSC), Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) and Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS).
The agency will have representatives from above mentioned boards. The test will for 3 stages i.e. Graduate, Higher secondary, Secondary levels. Present recruitment agencies will remain intact and conduct following stages of the exams.
CET Score Card: After the CET, NRA will issue a CET score card to the successful candidates. The scorecard shall be valid for 3 years. There will be no limits on the attempts made by the candidates. However, there will be an upper age limit. Candidates from SC/ST, OBC etc. Will get age relaxation, according to Govt. Policy.
Medium of CET: The CET will be conducted in multiple languages. As per the DoPT notification CET will be held in 12 Indian languages mentioned in the 8th schedule of The Constitution of India.
Exam Centers: To make it easier for candidates exam centers would be set up in all districts of the country. A special care will be taken to develop infrastructure in 117 aspirational districts. It is a great relief for the candidates who are from the economically weaker section.
