As per the latest notification, Railway Recruitment Board has introduced a new stage to the RRB Group D exam. Hence there is a major change in the RRB Group D exam pattern.
  • There are four stages in the RRB Group D Exam Pattern as per the latest notification- Computer Based Test (CBT), Computer Based Test (CBT- II), Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Document Verification and Medical.
  • CBT is conducted for a total of 100 marks and the duration of the exam is 90 minutes.
  • There is a negative marking in RRB Group D CBT.

RRB Group D Exam Pattern 2022

As already mentioned there are three stages in RRB Group D Exam Pattern :
  • Computer Based Test (CBT)- I
  • Computer Based Test (CBT)- II
  • Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
  • Document Verification and Medical 
 
The Railway has the sole authority to conduct CBT either in Single-stage or Multiple stages as per its discretion.  The details regarding each of these stages are as follows:

RRB Group D Exam Pattern: CBT

The Computer-Based Test is conducted by the Railways. The details related to the RRB CBT exam are mentioned below:
  • A total of 100 questions are asked.
  • Questions are objective in nature. 
  • The duration of the exam is 90 minutes.
  • Each question carries one mark.
  • There is negative marking and 1/3 marks are deducted for every incorrect answer.

RRB Group D Exam Pattern: CBT-II

The Computer-Based Test in the second phase is being conducted for the first time. The RRB Exam Pattern will undergo a major change with the latest exam pattern. The increased number of candidates is cited as the reason for CBT II, being held.
  • Only those who are successful in CBT I will be called for CBT II.
  • A total of 15 times the vacancy will be called for the CBT 2
  • Questions are objective in nature. 
  • The duration of the exam is 90 minutes.
  • Each question carries one mark.
  • There is negative marking and 1/3 marks are deducted for every incorrect answer.

We believe the syllabus for CBT II will be the same as CBT I, but the difficulty level of questions is expected to be a bit better.
 

RRB Group D Exam Pattern: Physical Efficiency Test


Candidates who clear the CBT exam are called for the Physical Efficiency Test based on their scores and merit as per the RRB Group D exam pattern. The total number of candidates called for PET is three times the total number of vacancies announced in the official notification. The criteria for PET is as follows:
 
Male candidates Female candidates
Should be able to lift and carry 35 Kg of weight for a distance of 100 metres in 2 minutes in one chance without putting the weight down; and
Should be able to run for a distance of 1000 metres in 4 minutes and 15 seconds in one chance.
Should be able to lift and carry 20 Kg of weight for a distance of 100 metres in 2 minutes in one chance without putting the weight down; and
Should be able to run for a distance of 1000 metres in 5 minutes and 40 seconds in one chance.

 

RRB Group D Exam Pattern: Document Verification

Besides knowing Exam Pattern candidates must know about the Document verification. Candidates who qualify for CBT and PET will be called for verification of their documents. The total number of candidates called for document verification will be twice the number of total vacancies.

In case of two or more candidates securing the same marks, their merit position shall be determined by age criteria i.e., older person shall be placed at higher merit and in case age being same, then alphabetical order (A to Z) of the name shall be taken into account to break the tie.
