Major Gen Yash Mor is a third-generation Army officer. He was born and brought up in village Bass in Hisar district of rural Haryana. He has done his Schooling at Rashtriya Military School, Bangalore.
During his school life, he used to be an active member of the debating, dramatics, and sports teams.

He passed out from the prestigious Indian Military Academy, Dehradun in Jun 1985 and was commissioned in one of the oldest Infantry Battalions of the Indian Army.
 
He represented the country in the United Nations as a Peace Keeper in Mozambique in 1993 to 1994. He is a graduate of Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, and also Command and General Staff College, Dhaka, Bangladesh. He has an MSc in Defence & Strategic Studies from Madras University and Masters in Defence Studies from National University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. In addition, the officer has an M Phil and Ph.D. from Osmania University, Hyderabad.

He was awarded the SENA MEDAL and Army Chief COMMENDATION CARD for gallantry during Counter-Terrorist operations in South Kashmir.
 
The officer was specially chosen to be the first General Officer Commanding (GOC) of an important Administrative Headquarters in Ladakh. Before superannuating on September 20, he was Chief of Staff of a Corps in the Desert Sector.
 
Apart from his military achievements, he is also working for the Himalayas. He is the CEO of Save the Himalayas Foundation an NGO dedicated to preserving the fragile ecology of the Himalayan region.
