SSC CPO Eligibility Criteria: Overview

Nationality Citizen of India
Age Limit 20 to 25 years of age
Educational Qualification Graduation from a recognised university or college
 

Under the SSC CPO Exam candidates are recruited to the following posts:

  • Delhi Police Sub-Inspector
  • Border Security Force (BSF) Sub-Inspector
  • Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Sub-Inspector

SSC CPO Eligibility Criteria 2023

SSC CPO Eligibility Criteria is categorized under different parameters which are as follows:
  • Nationality
  • Age Limit
  • Educational Qualificaitons

The details of each of these parameters are given below:

SSC CPO Eligibility Criteria: Nationality

A candidate must be either:

  • A citizen of India
  • A subject of Nepal
  • A subject of Bhutan
  • A Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India,
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
  • A candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.

SSC CPO Eligibility Criteria: Age Limit

The age limit for SSC CPO is 20 to 25 years of age. The minimum age to apply for the exam is 20 years and the maximum age is 25 years. There is age relaxation provided to candidates. The details are as follows:

3 years after deduction of the military service rendered from the actual age as on the closing date.

For the posts of SI and ASI in CAPFs only

Candidates who had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from 1st January 1980 to 31st December 1989

For ASI in CISF only

For Group B posts: Central Government Civilian Employees who have rendered not less than 3 years regular and continuous service as on the closing date.

General/OBC – Up to 40 Years of Age

SC/ST – up to 45 Years of Age

For the post of SI in Delhi Police

Widows, divorced women and women judicially separated from their husbands and who are not re-married.

Up to 35 years of age

Widows, divorced women and women judicially separated from their husbands and who are not re-married. (SC/ ST)

For Departmental candidates of Delhi Police against the vacancies of Delhi Police only 

Departmental candidates (Unreserved) who

have rendered not less than 3 years of regular and continuous service as on closing date.

Up to 33 years of age

Departmental candidates (SC/ ST) who have rendered not less than 3 years of regular and continuous service as on closing date.

SSC CPO Eligibility Criteria: Educational Qualification

Candidates should be graduates from a recognised university or college. Certain additional details are as follows:
  • The programs in Engineering, Medicine, Dental, Nursing, Pharmacy, Architecture, and Physiotherapy, etc are not permitted to be offered under Open and Distance Learning mode.
  • For the post of Sub Inspector in Delhi Police (only) - Male candidates must possess a valid Driving License for LMV (Motorcycle and Car) as on the date fixed for Physical Endurance and Standard Tests. Otherwise, they will not be allowed to undergo Physical Endurance and Standard Tests.

Male Candidates
  • 100 meters race in 16 seconds
  • 1.6 km race in 6.5 minutes
  • Long Jump: 3.65 meters in 3 chances
  • High Jump: 1.2 meters in 3 chances
  • Shot put (16 Lbs.): 4.5 meters in 3 chances
  Female Candidates
  • 100 meters race in 18 seconds
  • 800 meters race in 4 minutes
  • Long Jump: 2.7 meters in 3 chances.
  • High Jump: 0.9 meters in 3 chances
