SSC CPO Selection Process 2022
The SSC CPO selection has the following stages.
- Paper 1 Written Exam
- Physical Endurance Test (PET)/ Physical Standard Test (PST)

SSC CPO Paper 1
The SSC CPO Paper 1 Exam consists of four sections: General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Knowledge and General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension.
- The paper 1 exam will be of objective multiple choice type.
- There are a total of 50 questions from each section and each question carries one mark.
- The exam is conducted for a total of 200 marks.
- There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrongly answered question.
- The time duration of the exam is 2 hours.

SSC CPO 2022 Selection Physical Test
The candidates who successfully get through the paper 1 exam, get the chance to appear for the Physical examination. The revised dates for this phase of the SSC CPO are still to be out. The Physical Test has two subdivisions that are, Physical Endurance Test and the Physical Standard Test. Now, let us discuss the details about these two stages.
SSC CPO 2022 Physical Standard Test (PST)

Important Points For SSC CPO 2022 PST
- The chest requirement isn’t applicable for female candidates.
- The ex-servicemen who apply for the post need to undergo the Physical Standard Test.
- Weight standards remain corresponding to the highest degree of the post.
- Height and chest relaxation facilities are available only for the candidates who produce the Proforma certificate from the concerned authorities of his/her home district.
- The candidates who fail to clear the requirements can apply for the Appellate Authority whose decision will be final.
SSC CPO 2022 Physical Endurance Test
The Physical Endurance Test comprises tasks that are to be completed by the candidates. However, the list of tasks is variable for males and females. The detailing is done below.
For Male Candidates
- 100 mts. In 16 seconds.
- 1.6 km in 6.5 minutes.
- Long Jump: 3.65m in 3 chances
- High Jump: 1.2m in 3 chances
- Short Put (16lbs): 4.5 m in 3 chances
For Female Candidates
- 100 mts race in 18 seconds
- 800 mts race in 4 minutes
- Long Jump: 2.7 m in 3 chances
- High Jump: 0.9 m in 3 chances
SSC CPO 2022 Paper 2
The third phase of the SSC CPO selection is the paper 2 written examination. Candidates who pass the first two phases are eligible to turn up for the 2nd paper. The test consists of two hours with 0.25 marks negative marking for the wrong answers.
Candidates who will get shortlisted in the physical endurance test are eligible to appear for the Tier 2 exam.
- The SSC CPO Paper 2 exam is conducted to test the candidates’ understanding and knowledge of the English Language.
- There are a total of 200 questions and each question carries one mark.
- Paper 2 consists of objective Multiple Choice questions.
- The total time duration of the exam is 2 hours.

SSC CPO 2022 Selection Process: Medical Examination
Candidates who clear all the initial stages of the exam can appear for the Medical examination. Aspirants who successfully pass this stage, are summoned for the final document verification procedure. The Medical Examination details go as follows.

Points to Remember Regarding the SSC CPO Medical examination
- Candidates who pass the paper 2 examinations and turn up for the medical test will be assessed by the medical officers of the CAPFs/ Central/State Government Hospital or Dispensary.
- Candidates who are assessed to be unfit are informed about the same. Within the time of 15 days, they can apply for review to the Medical Review Board.
- The decision from the Review Medical Board is considered to be final and no further appeals are entertained.
The final selected aspirants as Sub Inspectors or Assistant Sub Inspectors, need to pass the following seven obstacles test to prove himself/themselves as worthy of the post. Any exception to the same can reject their placement. The seven tasks include,
- Jumping over the Vertical Board
- Holding the rope while jumping from the Road.
- Tarzan Swing
- Jumping on the Horizontal Board
- Parallel Rope
- Monkey Crawl
- Vertical Rope
Many candidates are seen to have tattoos while they appear for the Physical Test. The Ministry of Home Affairs has released some regulations in this regard.
- Content: The tattoos that signify the religious and traditional aspects of the Indian Army are allowed to have on the body.
- Location: Tattoos on the traditional sites of the body i.eInner aspect of the left forearm, non-saluting limb are also allowed.
- Size: The size needs to be 1/4th of the particular body part.
- For the Sub Inspector post in Delhi Police, the above guidelines are not to be followed.
SSC CPO 2022 Document Verification Process/ Final Selection
- The candidates who finally qualify for all the stages are called for the final document verification process. They are required to submit all the required documents during the verification process.
- The final merit list is prepared based on the 1st and 2nd paper scores of the candidates.
- The candidates who are finally selected, need to undergo a probation period of two years. After this training period, if they are found fit for the permanent position, they are allocated the post.
