Union Public Service Commission is scheduled to conduct prelims for Civil Service Exam on 5th June 2022. The exam is the first stage of the Civil Services Exam, candidates who have passed the exam get to write for the Mains Exam. The Candidates who have applied for the exam should be aware UPSC Prelims Exam Pattern.
The exam is conducted in two stages- the first paper is General Studies and the second is a CSAT paper. Candidates must note that CSAT has been made a qualifying paper by UPSC. IAS Prelims Exam Pattern

The exam pattern as per the official notification by UPSC is as follows:
  • The exam is conducted in offline mode.
  • Questions are objective type.
  • There is a total of 100 questions.
  • The exam is bilingual - Questions are framed in English and Hind.
  • The Test will carry a maximum of 200 marks.
  • Each question carries 2 marks.
  • There is negative marking and a 1/3 mark is deducted for every incorrect answer.
  • The total time duration of the exam is 2 hours.

IAS CSAT Exam Pattern 

This is a qualifying exam candidate must score at least 33% or 66 out of 200 to pass this paper. The exam pattern is as follows:
  • The exam is conducted in offline mode.
  • Questions are objective type.
  • There is a total of 80 questions.
  • The exam is bilingual - Questions are framed in English and Hind.
  • The Test will carry a maximum of 200 marks.
  • Each question carries 2.5 marks.
  • There is negative marking and a 1/3 mark is deducted for every incorrect answer.
  • The total time duration of the exam is 2 hours.

IAS Prelims Important Instructions

As per the official notification, candidates must keep the following things in mind.
  1. All candidates (male/female/transgender) should carefully read the Rules of Civil Services Examination.
  2. Candidates can apply Online by using the website https://upsconline.nic.in the admit card is also available online.
  3. The candidate should have a valid original  Photo ID Card along with the admit card.
  4. The use of any mobile phone (even in switched off mode), pager or any electronic equipment or programmable device or storage media like pen drive etc in banned.
