The State-run and private universities and colleges in Meghalaya will be exempted from taking admission in UG and PG courses through the CUCET score. Hence, there will be no CUCET in Meghalaya. This decision was taken by UGC after a letter sent to the Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma. According to him, There are a total of 12 districts in Meghalaya and the identified exam centers for CUET are only in Shillong which will cater to 25,000 candidates all across the state. Under this scenario, there will be a lot of distress and anxiety among the students, especially from outlying districts.
The Meghalaya Chief Minister also added to give sufficient time to spread awareness and critical information about CUET to the students and also give sufficient time to the students as well to prepare.
