The President of South Africa Jacob Zuma has resigned from his post on 14 feb 2018. Zuma announced his resign during a television address to the nation as he was threatened by the ruling African National Congress (ANC) party to eject him from office via a parliamentary vote of no confidence.
Jacob Zuma remained as the President of South Africa for the last 9 years. The 75 years old leader was under increasing pressure to vacate his seat for Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa, ANC's new leader. He took weeks to step down amid long-standing corruption allegations.
He left the office with his name in several scandals. The South African parliament will elect Mr. Ramaphosa as the President today or tommorrow.
