• International Day of Forests 

The International Day of Forests (IDF) was observed on March 21, 2019 with the theme Forests and Education: Learn to Love Forests’. The day is observed to raise awareness on sustainable forest management and biodiversity conservation. International Day of Forests was observed for the first time on March 21, 2013.

Forests are part of your life in more ways than you realize. This year the International Day of Forests promotes education to 'Learn to Love Forests'. It defines the importance of fores  and education at all levels in achieving sustainable forest management and biodiversity conservation, as healthy forests mean healthy, resilient communities and prosperous economies.

Every year on March 21, UN encourage countries to undertake efforts to organize local, national, and international activities involving forests and trees, such as tree planting campaigns, on International Day of Forests. The Secretariat of the United Nations Forum on Forests, in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization, facilitates the implementation of such events in collaboration with governments etc.

 

  • World Water Day

The World Water Day was observed across the globe on March 22, 2019 with the theme ‘Leaving no one behind’. The  Sustainable Development Goal 6 is crystal clear which is, water for all by 2030. The theme defines the central promise of the 2030 agenda which states that everyone must get benifited.

Billions of people are still living without safe water.This World Water Day is celebrate for tackling the water crisis by addressing the reasons why so many people are being left behind. This day aims to emphasise on the importance of freshwater and how to conserve  freshwater resources.

Water is a vital resource that not only helps sustain life but also possesses many unique qualities that are essential in maintaining viable living conditions. In 2010, the UN recognised “the right to safe and clean drinking water and sanitation as a human right that is essential for the full enjoyment of life and all human rights.”
