Like every year, this year also ‘World Blood Donor Day’ with the theme ‘Safe blood for all’  is celebrating across the world. The donation of blood is recognising as the good deeds to save someone’s life. Blood donation day, calls and encourages people to donate their safe blood. Instead of Caste, Religion, the purest blood carries more value while a donation of blood.

This event started by World Health Organisation (WHO) in 2004 to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and to giving thanks to the blood donor for their help and unpaid gifts to the needful person.

It is celebrated on the birth anniversary of Karl Landsteiner ( a scientist who won the Nobel prize for his discovery of the ABO blood group system).

While Donating blood, Donors have to be careful about these points i.e.

  • Your Blood pressure should be normal
  • People with low haemoglobin can’t donate blood
  • Any infected person would not be able to donate blood.

According to WHO’s data transfusion of blood save millions of lives every year. The access of safe blood can help in reducing death rates and disabilities.
