UPSC CAPF AC 2021: About the Exam, Important Dates, Preparation

UPSC has announced Central Armed Police Forces (AC) to be held on 20th Dec'20 (Sunday). CAPF (AC) is one of the most sought-after paramilitary exams in India. After clearing the exam, candidates get a job in CAPF (AC). Understanding the exam pattern and syllabus of CAPF (AC) is the first step for candidates to succeed in the exam.
 

About UPSC CAPF Exam 2020 

CAPF  stands for Central Armed Police Force.  Under the authority of the Ministry of Home Affairs CAPF is the unified name of the 7 security forces in India. The name of the seven Security Forces are given below:

1. CRPF - Central Reserve Police Force

2. BSF-   Border Security Force

3. ITBP-  Indo-Tibetian Border Police Force

4. SSB-   Sashastra Seema Bal

5. CISF-   Central Industrial Security Forces

6. NSG-     National Security Guard

7. AR-    Assam Rifles 

The responsibility of CAPF is to enable the Government of India to efficiently and effectively maintain public order, maintaining legal rules and regulations, and internal security.

The recruitments  are conducted mainly in three modes

1.  Gazetted Officers: Central Armed Police Forces recruits the  CAPF (Assistant Commandants) through the CAPF (AC) examination conducted by UPSC. 

2.  Subordinate Officers: The Staff Selection Commission recruits the Sub- Inspectors through competitive Examination and are referred to as DASOs (Directly Appointed Subordinate Officers).  

3. Constables: The Staff Selection Commission recruits Constables through competitive examination conducted by  SSC.
