UPSC CAPF AC 2021: Eligibility Criteria, Age Limit, Physical Standards, Selection Process

CAPF AC 2021 is an exam conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) every year for the post of Assistant Commandant in Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF).  Assistant Commandant rank is equivalent to the ranks of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and Captain in the Indian Army.

This rank is a Group-A gazetted officer rank in the Central Armed Police Forces. The Candidates recruited through this exam, join the below-mentioned forces as Assistant Commandant.
CAPF AC Exam Eligibility Criteria

The CAPF (AC) notification by UPSC mentions a set of eligibility criteria that must be fulfilled by the candidate. Any candidate who does not meet the set eligibility criteria their candidature stands to be void.
After the candidate has qualified the interview round the Eligibility conditions mentioned are verified concerning original documents Candidates have to satisfy the following to qualify the CAPF eligibility criteria:

Nationality:

  • The candidate must be a citizen of India.

  • The candidates who are subject of Nepal and Bhutan are also allowed to apply in the exam.

  • No other candidate can apply for the UPSC CAPF exam.

Age limit for CAPF Exam 2021

The lower age limit for the CAPF exam is 20 years and the upper age limit is less than 25 years. The age shall be calculated from August 1 of the exam year. For appearing in the UPSC CAPF exam 2021, the candidates’ date of birth should not be earlier than August 2, 1996, and not later than August 1, 2001. Hence, The aspirants, who have are between the age group of 20 years to 25 years on 1 August 2021 are eligible.

The upper age limit prescribed above will be relaxable.

 The total relaxation claimed on account of Government Service will be limited to five years.

Educational Qualification required for CAPF 2021

As given in the official CAPF notification, "the candidate must hold a Bachelor's degree from any recognised university" 

The candidates who are appearing in the final year of their degree course can also apply for the exam but they have to produce the final year mark sheet of the qualifying exam with the detailed application form.

Possession of NCC ‘B’ or ‘C’ Certificates:

The candidates having the NCC ‘B’ or ‘C’ Certificate will be given preference at the time of Interview. These qualifications will be considered at the time of Interview/Personality Test only.
 

Physical Standards

The UPSC CAPF  notification prescribes the physical and medical standards in a very extensive manner. UPSC CAPF 2021 physical standards are given below and the aspiring candidates need to meet the minimum requirements.

UPSC CAPF 2021 Selection Process

Once you have duly filled the form and meet the eligibility criteria you will be issued with the admit card. The UPSC CAPF 2021 exam will consist of three stages. The details of all the stages are given below.

UPSC CAPF Exam Stage I  comprises Written Exam which is of 450 marks

The stage I is the written examination and it consists of two papers-

Paper-II - General Studies, Essay and Comprehension 3 Hours 200 marks
Total 450 marks

The paper I will comprise objective type questions and paper II will be the conventional essay type questions consisting of two parts.

UPSC CAPF Exam Stage II - Physical Standards/Physical Efficiency Tests and Medical Standards Tests

The Physical Efficiency and Medical Standard test are also equally important to clear the exam. The candidates need to meet the standard which is prescribed in the CAPF notification. once you have passed the Stage I, you need to undergo the Physical Efficiency and Medical Standard Test. The details of the same are given below.

Pregnancy at the time of PET will be a disqualification and pregnant female candidate will be rejected.

UPSC CAPF Stage III: Interview/Personality Test - 150 marks

The candidates who qualify the second stage of the CAPF exam are called for the interview/personality test. The interview/ personality test will be conducted on the UPSC premises in New Delhi. After the interview/personality test, the final result will be declared by the UPSC.
