Looking out for the latest IBPS Clerk Exam Pattern 2018? Well according to the Institute of Banking Personnel recruitment notification 2018, it probably will happen in the month of October.

As per IBPS Calendar 2018-19, the expected tentative exam date for IBPS Clerk Prelims 2018 could be on 8th December 2018, 9th December 2018, 15th December 2018 and 16th December 2018, whereas the tentative date for IBPS Clerk Main exam is 20th January 2019.

Looking at the dates seems like not too much time is left for the preparation of IBPS Clerk Recruitment Exam 2018, in which applicants are advised to go through the IBPS Clerk Exam Pattern to prepare for the exam.
But before that, let’s have a quick look at the complete recruitment process.

IBPS Clerk Recruitment Process 2018 – 19
Talking of IBPS Clerk Recruitment Process there are two exams in the complete process that includes Preliminary Exam and Main Exam.
The Main stages of IBPS Clerk Recruitment Process are mentioned as follows-

  • One has to Apply Online for Registration
  • Then comes the admit card for Phase I (or Prelims)
  • Then there is a computer based online test Phase I (or Prelims)
  • After which there is a Declaration of Phase - I Result (or Prelims)
  • Followed with Admit Card for Phase II (or Mains)
  • Then the Computer-based Online Test Phase II (or Mains)
  • Then comes the Declaration of Phase - II Result (or Mains)
  • Provided with Provisional Allotment

Note that there is no interview in the recruitment exam of IBPS Clerk Recruitment.

IBPS Clerk Exam Pattern 2018: Prelims (Phase I) & Mains (Phase II)
By now you must have learned about the complete recruitment process. Now let’s understand the IBPS Clerk Prelims exam pattern 2018.


Phase I or Preliminary Exam for IBPS Clerk Exam Pattern 2018
This basically is a one-hour computer-based online test that has questions from English, Numerical and Reasoning. For more details look at the table below.

(Note: Leaving the English test, the entire above mentioned test will be available in English and Hindi).

Looking at the difficulty level of questions, it might vary from easy to very difficult.

Points To be Noted:

  • In the objective test, there will be a penalty for wrong answers.
  • In case of answering the question wrong,  0.25 of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted.
  • If the question is left unanswered, no marks will be deducted.
  • Applicants are required to obtain a minimum score in each test of Online Main Examination and also a minimum total score to be considered for further process.
  • The scores obtained in the exam will be normalized using equi-percentile method.
  • The scores with up to 2 decimal points shall be taken for calculation purpose.

Phase II or Main Exam Of IBPS Clerk Exam Pattern 2018

Applicants who qualify in the preliminary exam will be eligible to appear for the main exam. The IBPS Exam Pattern 2018 for the Main examination is quite different from the preliminary exam and candidates preparing ought to understand the examination pattern the IBPS Clerk Main Exam 2018.

The Exam pattern of IBPS Clerk Mains are mentioned as follows-

Take a look at some important points:

  • In the objective test, there will be negative marking for wrong answers.
  • For the wrong answer0.25 of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted.
  • In case the question is left unanswered, there will be no negative marking.
  • All corrected scores in the exam will be normalized using equi-percentile method.
  • The Main Exam comprises of 200 total marks, wherein the marks will be converted out of 100 for provisional.
  • Scores with up to 2 decimal points shall be taken for calculation purpose.
  • In the main examination, marks obtained will only be considered for final merit listing.

The applicant has to qualify in CWE online Main exam and should be sufficiently high in merit to be considered for succeeding provisional allotment process, for which the details will be made available on the IBPS Website.

Once the IBPS Clerk Mains 2018-19 is completed, depending on the state/UT wise vacancies will be filled in the financial year of 2019-20, based on the business needs or as reported to IBPS. Candidates shortlisted will be allotted to one of the Participating Organisations, based on merit-cum-preference keeping in view the spirit of Govt. Guidelines on reservation policy that varies from time to time.
