The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is all set to introduce Artificial Intelligence (AI) and yoga as new subjects in school from the upcoming academic session 2019-2020.
"The CBSE is introducing artificial intelligence as an optional 6th subject for class 8th, 9th, 10th from the session 2019-2020 onwards," an official said.
Importance Points at a Galance:
♦ If a student failed to qualify in any one of the three elective subjects (science, mathematics and social science), then it will be replaced by the skill subjects which are offered as the 6th subject and result of Class X will be computed on the basis of the best five subjects.
♦CBSE has also decided to introduce yoga and early childhood education as optional subjects on senior secondary level.
♦Board will also help the school to enhance the multidisciplinary approach in teaching-learning for the successful implementation of these skill subjects from the next academic session.
♦ AI, Yoga and early childhood education will be the skill subjects, at secondary level, offered to students as additional sixth subject along with the existing five compulsory subjects.
♦The board has recommended schools to offer at least one or more skill-based subject as optional subject out of the 42 subjects.
"The Board has taken the decision considering the demand of schools supplemented by various reports that figur out the huge requirement of yoga professionals and early childhood educators," the official said.
