NDA Exam 2019 Introduction

NDA & NA Exam is the entry-level exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for candidates willing to join the Army, Navy or Air Force wing. This is one of the most awaited competitive exams among competitive youth (male) as it provides basic level entry to Indian Defence Sector just after completing 12th. The exam is usually conducted twice a year, most probably in April and September. The candidates joining Indian Naval Academy pursue a 4years B.Tech course to get an opportunity to join Executive and Technical Branches of Navy. Only male and unmarried candidates are allowed to appear for the National Defence Academy (NDA) & Naval Academy (NA) Exam.

NDA Exam 2019 Notification

Union Public Service Commission has released the official notification for NDA (I) 2019 Exam on January 09, 2019. The exam will be conducted on April 21, 2019. The candidates willing to apply and appear for the exam can download the official notification from the website of UPSC or from the link given below. NDA Exam 2019 Application Fee

Application Fee can be paid through both Online and Offline mode. The candidates who are a son of JCO, NCO or Or are exempted for fee payment. Rest candidates should pay their application fee according to the norms.

For General/OBC Candidates: Rs. 100/-
For other reserved candidates: FREE

NDA Exam 2019 Important Dates

UPSC Conducts NDA the Exam twice in a year. The recruitment process for NDA (I) has already begun in Jan 2019 and the NDA (II) process will begin in the second half of the year. NDA Exam 2019 Exam Pattern

The Selection Process of NDA/NA Exam includes three stages.
(I) Written Exam: The candidate will have to clear the written test conducted in Pen and Paper mode. The candidates will mention their answers in the OMR sheet using a black ballpoint pen. The total time allowed to complete the test is 2 hours and 30 minutes. One-third negative marks will be awarded for each wrong answer.

(II) SSB Interview:  After the written exam, the candidates will go through SSB Interview with maximum marks of 900 marks. The final selection will be based on the performance in both written and interview exams.

Exam Syllabus NDA Exam 2019

According to the Exam Pattern, the syllabus can be divided into two sections. The topics asked in each section are mentioned below:
(I) Mathematics: Trigonometry, Differential Calculus, Integral Calculus and Differential equations, Analytical Geometry of two and three dimensions, Probability, Algebra, Vector Algebra, Matrices and Determinants: Types of Matrices, Determinant of a matrix, Statistics.
(II) a.) General Ability (Section I): English vocabulary, Grammar and usage, comprehension and cohesion and proficiency in English.
(II) b.) General Ability (Section II):  General Knowledge, Chemistry, Physics, General Science, History, Current Events & Geography.

Eligibility Criteria NDA Exam 2019

To appear for the NDA Exam, the candidates require to fulfill some very strict eligibility criteria. Though it requires only 12th passed certificate to apply, thousands of students apply for the recruitment process every year but they have to meet the required Physical standards. Education Qualification: The applicant should have completed 12th standard or equivalent from any recognized board or university. The candidates who are Intermediate appearing, are also allowed to apply for NDA Exam.

Age Limit: Only unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 02nd July 2000 and not later than 1st July 2003 are eligible.

Marital Status: The candidate needs to be unmarried to apply for the exam and should not get married during the complete training period. If any candidate violates this rule, then he will be dismissed from the duty immediately and will also be liable to refund all expenditure made on him by the government.

Physical Standards: The candidate needs to be physically fit in order to be eligible for the recruitment process. The guidelines for Physical Standards are given below:
(i) The candidate should be free from any disease or disability.
(ii) He has to be in a good Physical and Mental health.
(iii) He should not be overweight or obese.
(iv) Minimum acceptable height is 157.5 cms.
(v) For the Air Force, the minimum acceptable height is 162.5 cms.

Admit Card NDA Exam 2019

The Admit Card of NDA (I) Exam releases 1-2 weeks before the written exam. The NDA (I) Written Exam is to be held on 21 April 2019 and the result regarding the same will be released soon. The Admit Card for NDA (II) Written Exam will be released one week prior to the written exam. The Admit Card will be released online and will not be sent to the candidate by post. Cut Off NDA Exam 2019

As per the results of previous years, the expected cut-off of NDA (I) 2019 can be deduced. The Written Exam consists of 900 marks and from the last three years, the cut-off score lies in-between 290 to 320. The Interview round also carries 900 marks and the final cut-off score out of 1800 falls in between 650 to 700 marks.

Result NDA Exam 2019

The result will be declared on June 18, 2019, on the official website and Safalta education portal as well. The candidates will then be shortlisted for SSB Interview organized by the Services Selection Board of the Ministry of Defence. The final result will be published after the recruitment process will conclude. The result will be made available on Safalta education portal as soon as it will be released.

  • What is the essential qualification for the NDA Exam ?

To Apply For Army Wing of National Defence Academy: Candidates should have passed certificate in 10+2 exams via recognized board or a University.

To Apply for Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy: Candidate must have cleared Class 12th exam in the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics conducted by a State Education Board or a University.

The aspirants between the group 16 to 19 years are eligible for NDA

The selection of the candidates would be based on the written examination followed by Interview.

  • Are there any changes in the NDA Exam pattern ?

No, the exam pattern is similar to the last year exam. There would be 2hour 30 Minutes exam for 900 marks segregated into 3 sections.

The NDA Result would be declared 20 to 25 days after the commencement of exam.

  • Will there be any interview after the written result of NDA Exam?

Yes, the successful candidates need to appear for interview after the written exam
