NDA & NA Exam is the entry level exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for candidates willing to join Army, Navy or Air Force wing. This is one of the most awaited competitive exam among competitive youth (male) as it provides basic level entry to Indian Defence Sector just after completing 12th. The exam is usually conducted twice a year, most probably in April and September. The candidates joining Indian Naval Academy pursue a 4years B.Tech course to get an opportunity to join Executive and Technical Branches of Navy. Only male and unmarried candidates are allowed to appear for the National Defence Academy (NDA) & Naval Academy (NA) Exam.
Union Public Service Commission has released the official notification for NDA (I) 2018 Exam in the month of January. The exam will be conducted in April. The candidates willing to apply and appear for the exam can download the official notification from the website of UPSC or from the link given below. All candidates are advised to go through the detailed notification before applying for the NDA (I) Exam 2018.
Application Fee can be paid through both Online and Offline mode. The candidates who are a son of JCO, NCO or Or are exempted for fee payment. Rest candidates should pay their application fee according to the norms.

UPSC Conducts NDA the Exam twice in a year. The recruitment process for NDA (I) has already begun in Jan 2018 and the NDA (II) process will begin in the second half of the year. The Selection Process of NDA/NA Exam includes three stages.
(I) Written Exam: The candidate will have to clear the written test conducted in Pen and Paper mode. The candidates will mention their answers in the OMR sheet using a black ball point pen. Total time allowed to complete the test is 2 hours and 30 minutes. One-third negative marks will be awarded for each wrong answer.

(II) SSB Interview: After the written exam, the candidates will go through SSB Interview with a maximum marks of 900 marks. The final selection will be based on the performance in both written and interview exams.
According to the Exam Pattern, the syllabus can be divided into two sections. The topics asked in each section are mentioned below:
(I) Mathematics: Trigonometry, Differential Calculus, Integral Calculus and Differential equations, Analytical Geometry of two and three dimensions, Probability, Algebra, Vector Algebra, Matrices and Determinants: Types of Matrices, Determinant of a matrix, Statistics.
(II) a.) General Ability (Section I): English vocabulary, Grammar and usage, comprehension and cohesion and proficiency in English.
(II) b.) General Ability (Section II): General Knowledge, Chemistry, Physics, General Science, History, Current Events & Geography.
To appear for the NDA Exam, the candidates require to fulfill some very strict eligibility criteria. Though it requires only 12th passed certificate to apply, thousands of students apply for the recruitment process every year but they have to meet the required Physical standards. Education Qualification: The applicant should have completed 12th standard or equivalent from any recognized board or university. The candidates who are Intermediate appearing, are also allowed to apply for NDA Exam.
Age Limit: For NDA (I) Exam, the candidate must be born in between 02 July 1999 to 01 July 2002. For NDA (II) Exam, the candidate must be born in between 02 July 2000 to 01 July 2003.
Marital Status: The candidate needs to be unmarried to apply for the exam and should not get married during the complete training period. If any candidate violates this rule, then he will be dismissed from the duty immediately and will also be liable to refund all expenditure made on him by the government.
Physical Standards: The candidate needs to be physically fit in order to be eligible for the recruitment process. The guidelines for Physical Standards are given below:
(i) The candidate should be free from any disease or disability.
(ii) He has to be in a good Physical and Mental health.
(iii) He should not be overweight or obese.
(iv) Minimum acceptable height is 157.5 cms.
(v) For Air Force, the minimum acceptable height is 162.5 cms.

How to Apply
The candidates can apply online for the recruitment process. Follow the on-screen instructions to fill your basic details, photograph & signature and pay your Application fee.
The Admit Card of NDA (I) Exam has been released before the written exam. The NDA (I) Written Exam was conducted on 22 April 2018 and the result regarding the same will be released soon. The Admit Card for NDA (II) Written Exam will be released one week prior to the written exam. The Admit Card will be released online and will not be sent to the candidate by post. As per the results of previous years, the expected cut-off of NDA (I) 2018 can be deduced. The Written Exam consists of 900 marks and from the last three years, the cut-off score lies in-between 290 to 320. The Interview round also carries 900 marks and the final cut-off score out of 1800 falls in between 650 to 700 marks.
Just after one month of the written exam, the result will be declared on the official website and safalta education portal as well. The candidates will then be shortlisted for SSB Interview organized by the Services Selection Board of the Ministry of Defence. The final result will be published after the recruitment process will conclude. The result will be made available on safalta education portal as soon as it will be released.
