How to Apply
Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible for the position of Assistant Loco Pilot in the Indian Railways, candidates must meet the following criteria:
Nationality: Candidates must be citizens of India.
Age Limit: The minimum age is 18 years, and the maximum age is 28 years. Age relaxation is applicable for reserved categories as per government norms.
Educational Qualification: Candidates must have completed their Matriculation/SSLC along with an ITI certification from a recognized institution in relevant trades. Alternatively, candidates with a Diploma in Engineering in the relevant field can also apply.
Medical Standards: Candidates must meet the medical standards set by the Indian Railways, including vision and physical fitness.

Current Year Syllabus
The syllabus for the Assistant Loco Pilot exam in 2024 includes the following subjects:
Mathematics: Number systems, BODMAS, decimals and fractions, LCM and HCF, ratio and proportion, percentages, mensuration, time and work, time and distance, simple and compound interest, profit and loss, algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
General Intelligence and Reasoning: Analogies, coding and decoding, series, syllogism, jumbling, Venn diagrams, data interpretation and sufficiency, conclusions and decision making, similarities and differences, relationships, analytical reasoning, classification, directions, and statement arguments.
General Science: Physics, Chemistry, Life Sciences, and Earth Sciences as per the 10th standard CBSE syllabus.
General Awareness: Current affairs, general knowledge, Indian geography, history, culture, Indian polity, and constitution, environmental issues concerning India and the world, and sports.
Technical Subjects: Relevant to the trade chosen by the candidate, such as Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, and Automobile Engineering concepts.
Exam Pattern
The exam pattern for the Assistant Loco Pilot recruitment consists of the following stages:
First Stage CBT (Computer-Based Test):
Duration: 60 minutes
Number of Questions: 75
Subjects: Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Science, and General Awareness
Negative Marking: 1/3rd for each incorrect answer
Second Stage CBT:
Part A:
Duration: 90 minutes
Number of Questions: 100
Subjects: Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, Basic Science and Engineering, and General Awareness
Part B:
Duration: 60 minutes
Number of Questions: 75
Subject: Relevant trade
Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT):
Applicable only for candidates who have opted for ALP.
No negative marking.
Document Verification and Medical Examination:
Candidates who qualify in the above stages will be called for document verification and medical examination.
