UPSC CDS 1, NDA 1 Registration 2025: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is gearing up to close the registration window for the Combined Defence Services (CDS) 1 and National Defence Academy (NDA) 1 exams for the year 2025 tomorrow, December 31, 2024. Interested candidates who have not yet completed their application for these prestigious exams are advised to visit the official UPSC website at upsc.gov.in to submit their forms before the deadline.

UPSC CDS 1, NDA 1 Registration 2025: Vacancies and Exam Details

The UPSC CDS 1 exam 2025 will be conducted to fill a total of 457 vacancies across various defense services.
These positions are crucial for those aiming to join the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Indian Naval Academy (INA), and Air Force Academy (AFA). The NDA 1 exam 2025 will fill 406 vacancies, of which 27 are reserved for women. It is important to note that these vacancies are provisional and may change based on the available training capacity at the National Defence Academy and Indian Naval Academy.

The UPSC CDS 1 and NDA 1 exams are scheduled for April 13, 2025, and will take place at various exam centers across the country. After the application window closes on December 31, the correction window will be open from January 1 to January 7, 2025. During this time, candidates can make necessary changes to their application forms.

UPSC CDS 1, NDA 1 Registration 2025:  Application Fee and Exemption

To complete the registration, candidates need to pay an application fee of Rs 200. However, female candidates and candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) are exempt from paying this fee. Candidates must ensure that the application fee is paid by December 31, 2024, to avoid any issues with their registration.

UPSC CDS 1, NDA 1 Registration 2025:  Exam Pattern for UPSC CDS 1 and NDA 1

For the UPSC CDS 1 Exam 2025, there are different exam patterns based on the academy the candidates are applying for:

UPSC CDS 1, NDA 1 Registration 2025:  For IMA, INA, and AFA

English: 100 marks, 2 hours
General Knowledge: 100 marks, 2 hours
Elementary Mathematics: 100 marks, 2 hours
For OTA (Officers’ Training Academy):


English: 100 marks, 2 hours
General Knowledge: 100 marks, 2 hours
The written examination and interview for each course carry equal weight in terms of maximum marks. For IMA, INA, and AFA, both the written exam and interview contribute 300 marks each, whereas, for OTA, each section carries 200 marks.


All subjects in the exam are objective-type questions, with the question papers for General Knowledge and Elementary Mathematics available in both Hindi and English.
UPSC CDS 1, NDA 1 Registration 2025:  For the UPSC NDA 1 Exam 2025, the test will include two papers:

Mathematics: 120 questions, 300 marks
General Ability Test (GAT): 150 questions, 600 marks
Both papers will have a duration of 2 hours and 30 minutes. The NDA 1 exam will be conducted in an offline mode, with the GAT paper scheduled from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm and the Mathematics paper from 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm. The exam will be available in both English and Hindi.
