Deep Water is a story about a boy named Douglas and how he once had a really bad incident in his life that terrorized him and stopped him from achieving what he wanted.
It also depicts how he overcame his fear out of practice and perseverance.
When Douglas was merely 11 years old, he started learning to swim in the YMCA pool.
Douglas was very excited about swimming.
Consequently, in his early days of learning, he reached the pool a little earlier than the others.
He was sitting beside the deep end of the pool when an elderly boy pushed him into the pool.
The pool site was alone that time.The occurrence was scary as he gives details how he felt when he was in the pool. He felt paralyzed and horrified as he thought that he might die. Somehow, he, fortunately, was rescued. However, after the incident, he was never able to swim or even stay around any water bodies. The fear of drowning used to catch their stronghold of him.
One day Douglas got tired of being so fearful all the time, and he really wanted to learn to swim. Therefore, he first hired a swimming instructor who was very patient with him. It took him 6 months, but the boy had learned how to swim step-by-step. When the instructor was fully convinced that Douglas could swim, he wanted to test whether his fear was really gone or not.
So he swimmed and kept swimming in the famous lake of went worth in the place known as new Hampshire . He wrathfully overcome his fear of sinking and went swimming in the lake for some days until he was completely convinced. Finally, Douglas conquered his fear.. He realized that it is just the fear of death that terrifies us. Death is itself a peaceful experience. With tough determination and practice, we can overcome this fear of death also.
