Introduction

Staff Selection Commission conducts the SSC CGL Exam every year, to choose eligible candidates for recruitment to non-technical Group ‘B’ and Group ‘C’ non gazetted posts in various Ministries/ Departments/ Organizations of the Government of India. CGL Exam stands for Combined Graduate Level Exam and the educational qualification required to appear for the exam is graduation. The posts offered under CGL Recruitment include officer level posts and hence, lakhs of students every year apply and appear for the exam.

Notification

SSC CGL Recruitment Notification was earlier expected to be released on 21 April 2018 but the commission has released an official notice on the website regarding the release date and now the official notification will be released on 05 May 2018. The recruitment notification will be released for more than 4000 posts and the application process will begin one or two days later. As soon as the notification will be released, it will be made available on safalta education portal. Candidates should go through complete notification before applying for the SSC CGL Recruitment 2018

Application Fee

Application Fee can be paid in both Online as well as Offline mode. Category wise application fee is mentioned below:


For Gen/OBC Category: Rs. 100/- 
For SC/ST/PD Category: FREE

The number of vacancies offered under the recruitment process will be mentioned in the official notification only. According to some sources, more than 4000 vacancies can be filled this year under the SSC CGL Recruitment 2018. Exam Pattern

SSC CGL Exam is conducted in four stages/Tiers as mentioned below:


Tier -I: Online Examination (Objective Multiple Choice Type)
Tier -II: Online Examination (Objective Multiple Choice Type)
Tier -III: Descriptive Paper in English/Hindi (writing of Essay/Precis/Letter/Application Writing)
Tier -IV: Computer Proficiency Test/ Skill Test (according to post)/Document Verification

Exam Syllabus

Tier I and Tier II exam are Objective Type exams and the subjects asked in these exams are as follows.
(I) General Intelligence & Reasoning:

Analogies, similarities and differences, space visualization, spatial orientation, problem solving, analysis, judgement, decision making, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning and figural classification, arithmetic number series, non-verbal series, coding and decoding, statement conclusion, syllogistic reasoning, Semantic Analogy, Symbolic/Number Analogy, Figural Analogy, Semantic Classification, Symbolic/Number Classification, Figural Classification, Semantic Series, Number Series, Figural Series, Problem Solving, Word Building, Coding & de-coding, Numerical Operations, symbolic Operations, Trends, Space Orientation, Space Visualization, Venn Diagrams, Drawing inferences, Punched hole/pattern –folding & un-folding, Figural Pattern – folding and completion, Indexing, Address matching, Date & city matching, Classification of centre codes/roll numbers, Small & Capital letters/numbers coding, decoding and classification, Embedded Figures, Critical thinking, Emotional Intelligence.

(II) General Awareness:
Questions relating to India and its neighbouring countries especially pertaining History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Policy & Scientific Research.

(III) Quantitative Aptitude:
Whole numbers, decimals ,fractions and relationships between numbers, Percentage. Ratio & Proportion, Square roots, Averages, Interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, Partnership Business, Mixture and Alligation, Time and distance, Time & Work, Basic algebraic identities of School Algebra & Elementary surds, Graphs of Linear Equations, Triangle and its various kinds of centres, Congruence and similarity of triangles, Circle and its chords, tangents, angles subtended by chords of a circle, common tangents to two or more circles, Triangle, Quadrilaterals, Regular Polygons , Circle, Right Prism, Right Circular Cone, Right Circular Cylinder, Sphere, Hemispheres, Rectangular Parallelepiped, Regular Right Pyramid with triangular or square base, Trigonometric ratio, Degree and Radian Measures, Standard Identities, Complementary angles, Heights and Distances, Histogram, Frequency polygon, Bar diagram & Pie chart.

(IV) English Comprehension:
Reading comprehension, fill in the blanks, spellings, idioms and phrases, one word substitution, sentence correction, error spotting, cloze test, para-jumble, antonym-synonym, active-passive.

Tier III Exam: Essay/Precis/Letter/Application writing etc.

Tier IV Exam:
1. Data Entry Speed Test: Candidate must have 2000 key depressions speed within 15 minutes.
2. Computer Proficiency Test: Candidate must have working knowledge of Word Processing, Spread Sheet and Generation of Slides.

Eligibility Criteria

All candidates are advised to check the detailed eligibility criteria before applying for the exam. The eligibility criteria to apply for the recruitment process varies according to the posts offered. Detailed Eligibility Criteria is mentioned below:

Educational Qualification: The candidate must be a graduate from any recognized board or university. The candidates appearing in their final year exam are also eligible for the recruitment process. 
Additional Qualification:
(I) For Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer posts: Chartered Accountant or Cost & Management Accountant or Company Secretary or Masters I Commerce or Masters in Business Studies or Masters in Business Administration (Finance) or Masters in Business Economics.
(II) For Junior Statical Officer posts: Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the core subjects.
(III) Compiler posts: Bachelor’s Degree from any recognized University with Economics or Statistics or Mathematics as compulsory or Elective Subject.

Age Limit: The age limit for different posts are different. Age relaxation is also applicable as per SSC norms.

How to Apply

Candidates can easily apply for the SSC CGL 2018 Exam by following these simple steps:
1. With a valid email ID, register on the official website of SSC.
2. Pay Application fee through any medium (Online or Offline).
3. Enter your details including educational qualification.
4. Upload a copy of scanned photograph & signature. 
5. Hit 'Submit' button to finally submit your application.
6. Take a print out of your completely filled application form for future reference.

Admit Card

The SSC CGL 2018 Tier I Exam Admit Card will be released in the first week of July 2018 (tentatively). Candidates will be able to download the admit card from the official website of SSC as well as from safalta education portal. Center of Exam, date, timing and all other information will be mentioned on the Admit Card of the student.

Cut Off

To clear the exam, candidates have to score above the cut-off score. The cut-off score is released on the website of SSC after the evaluation process. Category wise last year's cut-off score is mentioned below.

Result

SSC CGL 2018 Exam Result will be declared on the official website of SSC as well as safalta education portal. The result will be declared after the conclusion of each Tier. Candidates will be allowed to check their exam result from the official website with their Registration number and date of birth.
